Abstract Energy harvesting represents one of the recent challenging subjects related to vibration and control. The scale energy harvesters storage can involve a wide power range, some milliwatt is elective field piezoelectric applications. This paper investigates frontiers piezoelectric-based applied automotive units. analysis, supported by experimental data, aims at estimating upper bound specific this technology for powering small devices on board cars. Passive optimally tuned harvester semi-active controlled ones are compared, based new control strategy named VFC-Variational Feedback Control, recently developed authors. technique makes it possible increase total drained from car vibrations. However, real advantage their use relies sharp balance between harvested costs additional hardware mass transport.
